Buying a Small Car

Buying a Small Car

** NOT ALL CARS ARE THE SAME **

This is a phrase that means so much in the car trade. When valuing two cars the same model and registration the difference in their value will be determined by their mileages first and then the condition and credentials each car possesses.

Imagine 2 cars the same registration year but one has traveled 80,000 miles and the other only 10,000 miles. What’s the difference apart from mileage you will ask…….let me explain.

Car 1 has covered 80,000 miles…..not just the engine but every part of the car has seen 80,000 miles of wear and tear which WILL mean a worn engine, worn gearbox, worn seats, worn carpets, worn plastics, worn switches, worn suspension, worn everything that 80,000 miles will inflict.

Car 2 therefore will only see one eighth of the wear of Car 1………what would you prefer?

Ownership

Why does low ownership matter so much?

People who only keep their car for short periods of time DO NOT tend to look after them mechanically or physically thus ultimately leading to unkept and unloved cars available for sale with many owners registered on the V5. Small cars, if not treated correctly, tend not to wear as well as their larger more expensive counterparts which is why our business model of specialising in the Small Car Market is to supply the Low Mileage and Low Ownership examples that we do.
